How are the Horses from the 2021 Texas Thoroughbred 2-Year-Old in Training Sale Performing One Year After the Sale?

April 14th, 2022, I evaluated the entire results one year after the 2021 Texas Thoroughbred 2-year-old training sale and grouped them in multiple performance categories. The categories are percentage of earnings over the purchase price including RNA’s. Total Earnings, Class of Race rankings are winners followed by placing in Graded Stakes then Stakes. Next is Wins, Placed, Started and Unraced. I will reveal the top performing horses in each of the listed categories along with links to their Equibase page and links to a few race replays of category leaders.

104 – 2-year-olds passed through the sale. 15 head were RNA.

One year into racing the Total Earnings as of April 14th, 2022, = $1,827,752

In one year from Sale the Texas Thoroughbred Sale has produced:

Starters: 83 (79.8%) Unraced: 21 (20.2%)

5th. Dare to Fail collected $100,000 for Asmussen Horse Center. The Kentucky bred brought $40,000 as a yearling in Keenland September Yearling Sell. Closing:

While Major Griffin makes the argument for the most bang for the buck, with $28,600 in earnings while costing only $2,700, Simply Wicked is in all 3 categories earning $103,010 nearly 7 times the purchase price of $15,000 while placing in a stakes race and winning multiple starts. Simply Wicked is my pick as the current leading performer when considering sale price, current earnings and class of race wins and placings.  Congratulations to Richard L Davis on this outstanding purchase.
